Now in its 10th year, Hüppelaud brought together nearly 60 14–19 year-olds at Sepikoja galerii in Tallinn from July 22–25, who formed 14 teams over four days and built their first working prototypes from ideas. Throughout the week, 13 mentors from industry and academia shared their experience, geneticist Lili Milani spoke as a guest speaker, and the group visited Wise's office.
Lumelaud 2026 brought together 25 students, who brainstormed 20 ideas and formed 7 teams. Over three days, guest speakers Karl Kiilaspää (bilt.me) and Anastasia Pjatakova (Unsume) shared their experience, before teams presented their finished prototypes.
In Kuressaare, 13 teams turned 53 ideas into working prototypes — from a fire extinguisher that puts out fire with fire (Fyreball) to a solution for detecting underwater cable damage (CUV). Over the week, 15 mentors and guest speakers from Bolt, Modash, and Lightyear shared their experience, and participants rated the summer school a record 9.3 out of 10.
Vabamu hosted the three-day Lumelaud winter school, joined by guests from Finland's FinEst Future. Participants toured Ampler Bike's production plant and tried a VR workshop, before five teams demoed their finished products — the city-improvement map Citymaxxing, food-expiry tracker Rimi App Extension, virtual outfit try-on Style Snap, teen time-management tool Zzzchedule, and gentle wake-up mask LUMEA.
At Viljandi Vocational Training Centre, participants spent the week building — at computers, sewing machines, and lathes — and visited Clevon's autonomous delivery-robot factory and went hiking at Ennuksemäe. Every team finished their product for the final demos, where a surprise guest, Bolt founder Markus Villig, shared how he launched the company as a student with a €5,000 loan from his parents.
The 7th edition of Hüppelaud took place at kood/Jõhvi in partnership with Enter Bootcamp, bringing together over 80 young people. The week mixed serious product-building with field trips — a visit to the Jõhvi infantry battalion and a hike up Ahermäe — plus talks on startup funding with investor Kärt Siilats and on turning a science project into a billion-dollar business with Carmen Kivisild.
The 6th Hüppelaud took place at PROTO Invention Factory, bringing together 28 ideas that turned into 9 teams. The week included a factory tour at Comodule to see Tuul Ride's e-scooter production, a creativity workshop at Vivistop to finish physical products, and personal inspiration talks from Liis Narusk and Björn Koop.
Held entirely online, Hüppelaud 2021 saw witty, world-improving products come together in just four days. Day two brought talks on no-code tools, staying safe in the world of crypto, and anthropological methods for user research — some teams even pivoted mid-week. Mentors gave their talks from airports, mountains, and boat trips.
The 4th Hüppelaud took place in 2020, held entirely online for the first time — everyone met remotely, but with the same energy and ambition as always.
Held at Tehnopol, Hüppelaud 2019 featured workshops on pitching, data analysis, AI, and blockchain with experts like Sten Tamkivi, Liis Lepik, and Rene Trisberg. By the third evening, teams already had working products like the geometry app Math 3D and the student-company platform Huub, while team SpacierX explored how to launch a rocket into orbit — the day wrapped up with an unexpected sporting twist: a cricket match at the Tallinn hippodrome.
Hüppelaud is a place where young people can pitch their ideas, develop prototypes in teams, and learn from some of the best mentors on Estonia's tech scene. This experience could be exactly what sparks a new career, or the next breakthrough startup.

Hüppelaud is the work of many hands — here I introduce myself, Hüppelaud's head organizer, whose own life was changed by this summer school and who now passes that same experience on to the next generation.
Hüppelaud changed my life and got me into startups. I took part myself in 2018 and 2019, mentored in 2024 and 2025, and have led the organizing team since 2026. I studied at TUM in Germany and TU Delft in the Netherlands, have helped build multiple startups, and am a Wise 20 Under 20 (2020) alumnus. I currently work at SYNLAB.
